Everyone wants to prevent database downtime by being proactive. But how effective are the common measures such as inspecting logs and analyzing SQL? To be truly proactive, one must prevent problems, which requires studying and understanding the reasons for downtime. We have analyzed a selection of emergency issues that we have resolved to better understand what types of problems occur in production environments. The surprising results will be detailed.

Verifying Replication Integrity with Percona Toolkit

This unique tool verifies that your replicas have exactly the same logical dataset as their masters. No other tool offers this capability, yet it’s vitally important to check that replication isn’t causing data drift, and correct any problems that might be uncovered. In this webinar we’ll explain why replicas can diverge from the master, discuss how pt-table-checksum works, and explore the new features in pt-table-checksum that make it work seamlessly out of the box, even on extremely large and heavily loaded servers.
